Meet our new commander:

Mike was born in Spartanburg, SC and he has lived in Georgia since he was three years old. He attended the University of Georgia and has been employed by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department for 23 years. He is a Lieutenant in the Criminal Investigation Division and is over the Robbery/Homicide Unit. He has been married to his wife Lori for 17 years. They have four daughters who all love Southern History: Macie, Megan, Madeline and Annie. He also has two sons, Matt and Andy, that live in Dayton, Ohio and attend the University of Dayton. He has always been interested in American History and three years ago he became increasingly interested in the War Between the States. He has researched his family and has located three g-g-grandfathers that served the Confederacy, as well as other ancestors. As time went on, he gained a deeper understanding of history from the Southern perspective. He joined the SCV in 2006. Knowing that his ancestors participated and sacrificed so much for the Southern cause makes him extremely proud to represent them in the SCV. It was quite an honor for him to be selected to serve as the Commander for the TRR Cobb Camp #97. He is very excited about this opportunity and looks forward to working with like-minded men to carry on the tradition of defending the Confederate Soldier's good name.
